The Team
The Team Behind Your Project
30 people. 45+ years of combined experience across landscape design, construction, horticulture, carpentry, and project management. Here are the specialists who lead every project.

Founder & Principal
Patrick
The face of every client kickoff. Patrick personally meets every new client at their property before work begins - not a sales handoff, not a junior account manager. Landscape design and project oversight are his domain, and the company's reputation for communication starts with him.

Site Lead
Construction Manager
On-site leadership from day one of construction through final walkthrough. The person who runs the crew, manages the schedule, and sends you the weekly update photos. If you have a question during your build, this is the direct line you call.

Landscape Designer
Senior Designer
Concept development, 3D renderings, planting plans. Translates client vision into a buildable design that accounts for drainage, microclimate, plant selection, and how the space will actually be used. The person who turns a conversation about what you want into a plan that delivers it.

Horticulture & Year-Round Care
Maintenance Lead
Year-round property stewardship. Knows every property's seasonal rhythms, plant inventory, and the specific quirks of the Georgian Bay microclimate. Manages the maintenance program for clients who want their investment looked after with the same care it was built with. See our landscape maintenance service.

Irrigation Systems
Irrigation Specialist
Irrigation system design, installation, and seasonal management. Every system is designed for the specific property - not a generic template. Zone mapping, smart controller setup, seasonal activation and winterization are all in scope.

Behind these leads is a full crew of craftspeople and specialists - the 30-person team that makes large-scale projects possible without the delays and coordination failures that smaller operations face.
Recognition
Why These Awards Matter
In an industry where anyone can call themselves a landscaper, these designations tell you something specific: our work has been reviewed by people who know landscaping better than most. They don’t give these out to make people feel good.
2023
Landscape Ontario Award of Excellence
The Award of Excellence is Landscape Ontario's highest recognition for completed projects. It's evaluated by a jury of industry peers who assess design, craftsmanship, innovation, and execution. We received this recognition in 2023 for a project that met the jury's standards across every criterion.
2025
Landscape Ontario Award of Excellence
Receiving the Excellence award again in 2025 means this isn't a one-time achievement - it reflects a consistent standard across different project types and different years. Two Excellence awards in three years is rare.
2025
Landscape Ontario Award of Merit
The Award of Merit recognizes outstanding projects that meet a high professional standard. Receiving both the Excellence and Merit awards in the same year reflects the depth of work across our portfolio.
Green Stamp Designation
The Landscape Ontario Green Stamp is a verified trust designation. It means we've been vetted against professional standards for business practices, safety, and quality - independently confirmed, not self-declared.
How We Work
How We Work
Not slogans. Specific practices that define every project we take on.
Communication is a Practice, Not a Promise
We believe the single biggest failure in the trades is silence. Patrick meets every client at their property before work begins. A named site lead runs your project from first shovel to final walkthrough. If something comes up, you hear about it - not after the fact. See how a project works.
Quality Is Not Negotiable
We don't build to a budget at the expense of the work. Our minimum project threshold exists because quality takes time, good materials, and the right crew. Every project we take on reflects on every project we've done. A Retreat project is something you'll still be proud of in fifteen years.
We Design for 20 Years, Not a Photo Shoot
Drainage is planned before anything goes in the ground. Plant selection accounts for the Georgian Bay climate and freeze-thaw cycles. Materials are chosen for longevity, not just appearance at install. If a design choice looks good now but creates problems later, we push back and find a better path.
Working With Natural Systems, Not Against Them
We're working within a natural landscape corridor that deserves to be treated that way. Plantings support local pollinators. Water management respects site drainage. We've received the Green Stamp designation because these practices are part of how we build - not an add-on, not a marketing claim.
Where We Work
Rooted in the Collingwood Corridor
Retreat is based in Collingwood, Ontario. The team lives and works in the communities they serve - there’s real local knowledge in how we approach a site. We understand the Georgian Bay microclimate, the soil conditions, the freeze-thaw cycles that matter for hardscape installation, and the plant species that genuinely thrive here. Since 2013, we’ve completed 100+ projects across this corridor. The company’s growth has been entirely referral-driven - every project is walking advertising in the communities we serve.
This website is new. Our reputation isn’t. We’ve built our business on the work, and we’re making it findable online for the first time.
